Let's recapped on what happened during my trip to Venice representing Malaysia for World Summit Award 2007 as Special Mention. Special thanks to Sharia; x-classmate from KUSESS (sha) for arranging, accompanying, advicing and touring me during my trip to Venice (Venizia). Also to MDeC for sponsoring and submitting Kapasitor to World Summit Award 2007.

3rd November 2007 (WSA 07 Welcoming Session and Winners Conference)

Tengah berdebar-debar menunggu giliran utk presentation

My presentation day and the opening + welcoming session for World Summit Award 2007 chaired by the president (Prof. Bruck). Sha and I came to Palazzion Frenchetti with me wearing a set of white baju melayu (one of Malaysia's national costume) and blue samping without songkok (I forgot to wear it). My presentation went well except for the q & a session where I was asked by a gentleman (one of the grand jurors) regarding copyright issue in Kapasitor. Will definately fix this matter once I got myself back in Malaysia.

This session also consists of a few other presentations by other categories. Yes, I was nervous during the presentation as I have no experience presenting in front of international audience. Luckily Sha was there to help me. It was a great experience, something that not everyone would have without effort and istiqamah (constant in doing things) and doa.

We met MDeC's Vice President, Dato Abu Talib Bachick during this session. Since I was caught in fever and Sha was not well (headache), we straight away went back to Lido for rest.

As I burned my night working on a few projects, I was shocked to receive an email sent by the Chairman of World Summit Award 2007 (WSA 07) telling that Kapasitor has been evaluated for best e-Content.

Here’s a snippet of the email:

"The World Summit Award Grand Jury 2007 met on the island of Brijuni from September 1-7 bringing together eminent multimedia and e-Content experts from 32 countries. The Jury evaluated 650 entries which were nominated from 160 countries to the Global WSA. To tell you the truth, I cried in happiness upon reading the email.

Our team has been invited to Venice for WSA Gala to meet other participants by early November and we, the administrators of Kapasitor will not missed this opportunity of a life time to attend the world class award on behalf of Malaysians.

Konsep 80/20: Bagaimana menggunakan masa di KUSESS dengan betul?

Konsep 80/20 diperkenalkan oleh Vilfredo Pareto, seorang pakar ekonomi berbangsa Itali yang mengatakan bahawa 80% hasil datangnya daripada 20% punca. Konsep ini banyak digunakan sebagai penanda dalam pelbagai bidang. Saya ingin berkongsi pengalaman saya ketika berada di KUSESS tentang bagaimana mengadaptasi konsep ini ke dalam kehidupan para pelajar.

Sebagai contoh:

1. Dalam bidang perniagaan:
1. 80% daripada keuntungan datangnya daripada 20% pelanggan
2. Dalam bidang fesyen:
1. 80% daripada masa kita digunakan dengan memakai 20% daripada baju kegemaran kita
3. Dalam perhubungan:
1. 80% daripada masa kita diluangkan dengan 20% daripada kenalan rapat kita.

Bagaimana dalam konsep pembelajaran?

80% kejayaan kita datangnya daripada 20% usaha kita. Namun begitu, yang hendak saya tekankan disini adalah bagaimana memaksimakan penggunaan 20% usaha kita untuk mencapai kejayaan. Saya ingin berkongsi pengalaman saya ketika berada di KUSESS tentang bagaimana mengadaptasi konsep ini ke dalam kehidupan para pelajar.

Antara perkara yang sangat penting untuk mengejar 80% kejayaan kita adalah dengan pembahagian masa yang betul. Dengan membahagikan masa kamu dengan betul, segala perkara yang perlu kamu langsaikan akan berjalan lancar. Perhatikan jadual waktu di sekolah berasrama penuh berikut sebagai contoh:

*Pecahan masa adalah sekadar anggaran penulis

1. Waktu sekolah (dibundar kepada 7 jam sehari)
2. Prep petang dan prep malam (dibundar kepada 4 jam sehari)
3. Solat, makan, riadah dan rehat (dibundar kepada 7 jam sehari)
4. Tidur (dibundar kepada 6 jam sehari)

Dalam jadual harian kamu, sebanyak 4 jam digunakan untuk kelas persediaan petang dan malam iaitu kira-kira 20% (dibundarkan) daripada masa keseluruhan. 4 jam ini jika digunakan dengan sebaik mungkin sebenarnya sudah mencukupi untuk menjana 80% kejayaan kamu. 4 jam ini bukan sahaja cukup untuk menyelesaikan tugasan yang diberi oleh guru-guru bahkan boleh digunakan untuk menelaah nota pelajaran yang lain. Tetapi harus diingat! 4 jam ini haruslah dibahagi dengan cara yang betul supaya setiap saat yang kamu gunakan itu digunakan dengan sebaik mungkin. Untuk memastikan pembahagian masa kamu adalah tepat, wajarlah kamu mengikut tips di bawah sebagai rujukan:

* Jangan menangguh masa. Kerja-kerja yang harus diselesaikan haruslah dibuat segera dan tidak bertangguh ke suatu masa yang lain. Misalnya, jika perlu menyiapkan latihan matematik, lakukan pada prep petang dan tidak dibawa ke kelas prep malam.
*
Pengutamaan kerja. Kamu harus bijak mengutamakan kerja-kerja yang harus diselesaikan mengikut turutan daripada yang paling penting kepada yang kurang penting. Misalnya, jika diberi 2 latihan biologi dan kimia, selesaikan latihan kimia dahulu jika kelas kimia adalah di depan kelas biologi dalam jadual sessi persekolahan kamu.
* Tidur mengikut jadual. 25% daripada masa kamu (6 jam) yang diperuntukkan untuk kamu setiap hari adalah cukup untuk tidur. Kadang-kala ada antara kamu yang merungut tidak cukup tidur. Sebenarnya, kamu bukannya tidak cukup tidur tetapi kamu tidak mendapatkan tidur yang berkualiti. Ada pelbagai tips untuk mendapatkan tidur berkualiti tetapi cara yang terbaik adalah keluar BERIADAH pada waktu petang! Peluh yang keluar hasil daripada aktiviti riadah sebenarnya membantu badan kamu mendapatkan tidur yang berkualiti pada malam hari.
* Tidak mengulangkaji pelajaran pada lewat malam
1. Pada masa saya dahulu, ramai yang mencuri waktu tidur untuk mengulangkaji pelajaran. Secara peribadi, sebenarnya cara ini tidak wajar diikut kerana hal ini membuktikan yang kamu gagal membahagikan masa dengan baik. Kecuali jika kamu mempunyai urusan lain pada siang hari (mesyuarat sukan atau kelab, mesyurata MPP), kamu tidak digalakkan mengulangkaji pelajaran pada lewat malam kerana ini akan mengganggu “body clock” kamu dan membuatkan kamu mengantuk pada keesokan hari.
2. Jika kamu kesuntukan masa (kerana kesibukan dengan hal-hal lain yang munasabah), minta kebenaran kepada guru kamu untuk menghantar kerja lewat. Guru kamu seharusnya faham dengan tanggungjawab kamu yang lain kerana guru kamu juga pernah menjadi pelajar seperti kamu. Jumpalah guru kamu dan minta kebenarannya dengan cara yang baik.

Deduksinya, dalam mengadaptasi konsep 80/20 dalam kehidupan kamu, 20% daripada masa kamu (masa prep petang dan prep malam) haruslah digunakan dengan betul bagi menjana 80% kejayaan kamu.

Kapasitor Widget of the Day

Recently, we founded a new team called Prasasti Team. This team will concentrate on Kapasitor's monthly e-mag. Starting May 2007, Prasasti will be published into 2 different languages; Bahasa Melayu and English where Snubnosse is still the Chief Editor in both Prasasti. Assisted by Nur Zahirah, we now have 2 new designers for the e-mag. Yusman is in charge in Prasasti Bahasa Melayu and Raihan Ramdzan in charge in Prasasti English.

Some of you may ask why we split Prasasti into languages? It's because we want to go global. We want the whole world read your writings and appreciate your skills in writing. As a matter of fact, we want you yourself to appreciate your own piece.

Design-wise, I must say that this is the best design just yet. A big clap to Yusman and Raihan. They were given less than 2 weeks to come out with the look and feel of the new Prasasti.

1. Last week, i went to Terengganu attending + sending my elder brother for his wedding. They gone out together since form 5 (now he's 28) and on 26th April (my brother's birthday), he finally got the "license" to live and grow old together with his wife.

2. Snubnosse YMed me and told me about this site called nikfaris.blogspot.com. Really thankful for the site and prasasti review done by him. One side of me says that I am thankful for the reviews and another side of me says that sorry nik, I am not be able to update Aku Budak Setan in regular basis because of busy maintaining, supervising, planning and spreading kapasitor.net.

3. We hope that more readers and contributors of Kapasitor to follow what Nik had done to his blog. Help us out to reach more people, and help the writers to improve their writings. A few lines of comments would do. Even if you are not into writings, you can still get yourself registered or logged in into the system and start commenting their work. Prasasti April 2007 and Kapasitor's widget

Assalamualaikum and hello to all of you.

This week we have a few updates on Kapasitor.

1. Prasasti April 2007
Firstly, I apologize for behalf of my team for the late publishing of Prasasti. A few technical problems occured and we had tried our best for Prasasti. The file size is now larger than the 1st issue of Prasasti because we added more pictures and more content taken from Kapasitor and various online sources.

2. Kapsitor's widget
Alhamdulillah. One of it's kind in Malaysia, we give you the embedded HTML code called Kapasitor's widget. This is for the purpose of novel and prose sharing in Kapasitor.

As we are trying our best to penetrate into social networking sites such as myspace and friendster, this widget could help us in boosting up our web traffic. You can also put the widget into your blog and share it with your audience.

The most important thing is, this is another appreciation for the loyal writers in Kapasitor. Not only we give you the oppurtunity to have your name wide spread, this widget also enables the concept of novel @ prose sharing among internet surfers.

Of course, the widget might not be as complete as it can be but I believe with the help of the administrators and the whole members of the community, we could enhance the widget and make it more reliable in the future.

Kapasitor.net's analytic result for 1st quater of 2007

Salam and hello to all of you.

Thanks for your support guys. Alhamdulillah, we see a tremendous increase in kapasitor's traffic in terms of visitors and pageviews for the 1st quater of 2007. We expect by end of March 2007, the total pageviews would be around 20k but in turn out that we achieved more than that! Really a big muahs and hugs to all readers and contributors of Kapasitor.

2. Forum navigation has been upgraded. Fuh, thanks to nur_za for giving advice on how to improve navigation of forum.

3. my.kapasitor has been launched! Yey!! The previous design was taken away from the web and we give you a new theme created by xr. you can take a look at the page here. Enjoy the benefit of registering to kapasitor and you will get you profile and personalized page for FREE!! (we are quite generous kan?)

4. Thanks to pragun, we also upgraded control panel of JoCMS. Now, you can have links, emoticons and image link to your post. Tested on firefox 2.0 and IE 6.0. If you find bugs in kapasitor, do not hesitate to contact the admins.

5. We received a few bug reports from idhammuchtar and blur12 recently regarding the improper display of shoutbox. IF anyone of you encounter the same problem, please please please contact the admins.

Prasasti: Menjulang karya jalanan ke mata dunia

Assalamualaikum and good day to all of you.

Finally, after a few weeks of hard work and a few pack of cigarettes, we present to you; Prasasti with the tagline: Menjulang karya jalanan ke mata dunia. We decided to take what you have written online and put it into an e-mag for offline readings. This e-mag will be published once in a month and comes in Bahasa Melayu language.

Some of you might ask; why would we do this? The answer is simple: appreciation.

Yeah, this is a token of appreciation to all writers and readers of Kapasitor. And we could not get it done without sacrifise from Snubnosse. He, as an Editor of Kapasitor, had done so many things just to get Prasasti become real. He proved himself as a capable man who not only able to write a superb piece, but also capable of getting Prasasti done from scratch. Not to mention the hastle of getting the materials, authoring process in Publisher and export it into acrobat Reader.

Snubnosse, you have done a great job!

So, what we have in the 1st issue of Prasasti? The first issue is basically what you have read in Kapasitor PLUS 2 interviews with Cahatomic and Uculer. We have more content for the next issue of Prasasti, so if you want to contribute, start your writing now at Kapasitor!
